I remember making a stupid little beaded string for Nannie to put on her phone case or key chain. It was just an old piece of white yarn with some blue and clear beads on it. Nothing to pretty to look at, but Nannie acted like it was such a beautiful key chain. She put it on her phone case and left it there for as long as I can remember. The string eventually became sort of dingy looking. Nannie didn't care. I had made it for her, and that meant it was special enough to keep forever. She was like that, cherishing everything her kids and grand kids gave to her, like it was made of gold. I loved her for that.
